Noticed a musty smell coming from the access hatch under the stairs, and when I finally crawled in there with a flashlight, I saw patches of black and green mold spreading across the dirt floor and up the wooden joists. It's that damp, enclosed space where moisture just sits, and the mold has been feeding on the old insulation and forgotten boxes. Now I'm dealing with a bigger cleanup than I expected because that stuff can really affect the air quality in the whole house.
