농림축산검역본부가 통보한 2024 동물복지에 대한 국민의식조사에 따르면 응답자 4000명 중 74.7%가 '폭염과 한파에 별도의 냉난방 장치가 없는 장소에서 사육하는 행위'에 대해 "동물 학대"라고 응답했다. 또 87.7%는 동물학대에 대한 처벌과 사육금지가 필요하다고 봤다.
한 교육업계 관계자는 “실습기업의 반려동물 시장 진출은 학령인구 감소라는 구조적 한계를 극복하기 위한 전략"이라며 "반려동물과의 감정적 교감을 우선시하는 소비자 욕구 변화에 대응한 측면도 크다”고 말했다.
